FIVE YEARS IN FIVE LEAVES
The poem looks backward, from a wedding to a second date, then lets the leaves rise and settle. Follow the lines—or let the sequence move on its own.

A NOTE FROM THE AUTHOR
This is a wall in my home today, where I have hung several photographic prints. The one on the left shows me beside the man addressed in this poem at his wedding. The photograph on the right—a summer thunderstorm over Washington, D.C., with a bolt of lightning visible on its left side—was taken by that same man. I did not even notice this coincidence until I put this exhibit together.
